Frequently Asked Questions

Relax! Don’t be nervous! Everyone who waxes has had a first time. Most of my first time guests are more nervous about being seen “down there” than they are about the discomfort. I wax women and men of all shapes and sizes. Everyone has insecurities, but please be assured, I’m not here to judge, I’m here to make your “parts” hair free and beautiful (or handsome)! I understand that waxing is a very personal service, and I am respectful of every guests’ comfort levels. If you don’t want an area waxed that would normally be included in your service, please let me know. I want every single guest who visits Luxe to feel completely comfortable during their appointment, and to walk out feeling beautiful (or handsome), confident and sexy!

Will my hair grow back thicker with waxing?

NO WAY! Your hair will actually get thinner and thinner after every wax! This is one of the main benefits of waxing. Because the hair is removed completely, bulb and all, when it does grow back, it’s a brand new baby hair! And, once a hair follicle is damaged (or removed) it is less likely to come back at all! Your hair grows back thicker when you shave, NOT when you wax. (Another reason that waxing is so totally worth it!)

Is there anything I need to do after my appointment?

Exfoliate! Exfoliating removes dry, dead skin cells that collect on the surface of your skin. These dead skin cells, if not removed can actually make it more difficult for hairs to poke through, and in some cases can cause ingrown hairs. (This is even more so true with shaving.) Exfoliating also increases blood flow which helps skin cells regenerate, keeping your skin healthier, younger looking, and helping it retain it’s elasticity. At Luxe, I actually have my own line of wonderful, handmade body scrubs made from high quality, all natural ingredients.

What’s the difference between a Brazilian and a Bikini Wax?

A lot of waxing Salons will have a plethora of options for down there waxing. At Luxe, the options are endless, but I’ve narrowed it down to two choices as far as pricing. A bikini wax gets rid of the hair along the bikini line that would stick out of your bikini bottoms. The Brazilian gets rid of that, and the hair underneath the bikini bottoms. Everyone has different preferences. Some choose the Brazilian because they want everything underneath smooth, but would like to keep a “landing strip” or a small triangle of hair above the pubic bone. You can do that! I’ll ask before we start what your preference is.

Does it hurt?

Waxing can be uncomfortable the first time you have it done, after all you are ripping hair out of your body! But, it doesn’t have to be painful. It’s not nearly as bad as they portray it in movies! And the results are amazing and totally worth the few minutes of discomfort! There are things you can do to greatly decrease the discomfort. You can take an Ibuprofen about 45 minutes before your appointment. This can actually make a big difference! Also, making sure your hair is the appropriate length makes a huge difference. Luxe also carries numbing kits, that include a numbing cream and latex panty to keep the product from soaking into your clothes instead of your skin!

How long does my hair need to be?

The ideal length is between 1/4 to 1/2 inch, or 1-2 weeks worth of growth. If you don’t want to break out the ruler and measure, a good rule of thumb is, if you run your fingers over the hair and it is soft and moves when you touch it, it is long enough. If it still feels prickly and stubbly, it’s not quite long enough and there will be some hair left over that wasn’t quite long enough for the wax to grab completely. If it’s been a long time since you’ve shaved or trimmed, you might want to consider trimming before your appointment. When the hair is too long, the wax cannot penetrate through the hair and grab on completely to each individual hair. In areas where the hair is more concentrated, such as the Brazilian, this can cause matting when the wax is applied, and can be very uncomfortable during removal. When the hair is the appropriate length, it is removed cleanly, quickly and easily, and with the least amount of discomfort. When it is too long, it causes more pulling before the hair is removed and can even cause some hair breakage.

Can I get a Brazilian wax while I’m on my period?

Yes you can. Please come to your appointment squeaky clean with a fresh tampon in. Also, please know, you may be a little more sensitive during your cycle, so if you do come during your period, you may want to take an Ibuprofen about 45 minutes before your appointment to lessen the discomfort. (This really does help!)

How long do the results last?

Depends on the area you are having waxed. Areas where the hair is more concentrated, such as under arms and Brazilian, tend to stay smooth longer, and the hair will thin out much faster when it does grow back. Larger areas with more sporadic hair, such as the legs, take a couple of treatments to achieve longer lasting results. Generally though, skin stays smooth for about 2-3 weeks after a waxing treatment. I usually recommend scheduling waxing appointments about 4-6 weeks apart.

Why is it so hard to get through to someone when I call?

Presently, Luxe is a one woman operation. I give my clients my undivided attention during their scheduled appointment times. Oftentimes I am booked up on the days I’m working and it can be difficult to answer every call that comes in. Please understand, every guest who visits Luxe is very important to me! I answer every call I can between appointments. If I do miss a call I do my best to return the call as soon as possible, but no longer than 1 business day. You can also text me at the same number, 317-444-1114, with your desired appointment time. I handle texts the same as phone calls, and respond asap, or definitely within 1 business day, but it is much easier to respond to a text than a phone call. It just takes less time, and can be done during the smaller random gaps of time that I get throughout the day. If you are looking to book an appointment for same day or next day, please say so in your text or voicemail.
At Luxe, I offer the best waxing service you can get, at a great price. Because of this my business has grown immensely over the last two years, and with that has come some minor growing pains. One of those is keeping up with all the phone calls that come in. To fix that, I’m super excited to announce that Luxe now offers Online Booking Yaaaayyy! The online booking is super easy, and super awesome because you can see every opening I have for any given day. You’re still welcome to call or text if you prefer, but if it takes a couple minutes, or hours, for me to get back to you, don’t get mad at me! (Seriously, it hurts my feelings ) Please know that I do value you! I’m just in the middle of providing the same excellent service to one of my other guests that I’ll provide to you during your visit!
